The Platinum trim utilizes a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, delivering 365 horsepower and 380 pounds of torque. All trims come equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost achieves 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive, while four-wheel drive models get 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
Performance
The 2025 Explorer comes standard with Intelligent 4WD and the Terrain Management System across all trims. The system offers seven drive modes: Normal for everyday driving, Eco for optimal fuel efficiency, Sport for enhanced performance, Mud/Ruts for challenging off-road conditions, Sand for maximum torque in sandy terrain, and Grass/Gravel/Snow for improved traction on slippery surfaces.
