Trucks have been around for a long time, and they seem to be getting bigger and stronger every year. However, what if you don't want a huge, heavy-duty pickup truck? What if you'd rather drive something that's on the smaller side that still has great versatility and capability? Also, what if you'd like a new truck but would prefer it to be energy efficient?

Well, Ford has addressed all of those questions by designing the new Maverick. This pickup truck is smaller than the Ford Ranger, and this may make it more appealing to people in urban areas or those who don't necessarily need all of that space. It still has two comfortable rows of seating so that you can bring passengers along with you on your adventures. Its truck bed measures 4.5 feet long, and there is a multi-position tailgate and smaller storage compartments that can make it easier to keep things organized. Along with a more compact footprint, this model is expected to have a very competitive price tag.

One thing that helps the Ford Maverick stand out in a crowded market is its available hybrid powertrain. It can achieve an estimated 40 miles per gallon in the city. Interestingly, the hybrid powertrain comes standard with the entry-level trim, which is the XL. This is a different approach to what's commonly seen in the industry: customers have to pay extra for hybrid models. The XL trim will no doubt be attractive to eco-conscious Huntingdon, PA consumers on limited budgets.

The other trims are the XLT, Lariat, and Lariat First Edition. These all have various exterior and interior upgrades, starting with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels and power locking tailgates. On the higher trims, there could be power moonroofs, special exterior accents, leather-wrapped steering wheels, and ambient lighting.

As a brand-new model, it makes sense that the Ford Maverick has many high-tech features. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-inch touchscreen are all standard, as is a Wi-Fi hotspot.
